Pony Penning Day

85.00

Pony Penning Day is an annual event in Chincoteague Island, VA, where the volunteer fire dept. rounds up the wild ponies from nearby Assateague, Island.  The ponies swim the channel connecting the 2 islands, paraded through the town, and then the weanlings are sold to the highest bidder in order to raise money for the town's fire department.  These ponies are the most amazing horses, and this event is the most magical thing you will ever attend!

As some of you may know, my own little pony, Skipper, came from this island many years ago, yet after all this time, he is still a wild thing.

This piece is inspired by the beauty, elegance, and unadulterated wildness that these ponies possess.
