Pyrite Sun

220.00

This particular formation of pyrite, known as a “sun”, or “fan”, can only be found one place in the world- coal mines in Sparta, Illinois.  Here the perfect conditions for such a rare shape have occurred, and it is unlikely that they will occur anywhere else.  These pyrite fans are set in 1 micron of 24k gold and have been brushed with a wire brush to bring out the natural iridescence of the stone.  These mines are being shut down one by one, making this rare formation even more highly sought after by mineral collectors and jewelry lovers alike.

This piece is from my collection, Resurrection, which consists of genuine fossils set in or surrounded by precious metals.  This necklace hangs approx. 20".

The heart behind the Resurrection collection is taking something once useless and void of life, and giving it a new and beautiful purpose.  These pieces also have visible clasps (this piece clasps in the front), because my hope is that as you wear your piece, you will be reminded to open yourself daily to your specific and beautiful purpose.
